Éze village, C'ôte d'Azur

View of the C'ôte d'Azur

View of the mountain village and Cap Ferrat

Mountain village of Éze
Èze village is a nice little mountain village away from all of the hype of the C'ôte d'Azur. It is a place to retreat for many celebrities as well as a place to discover the old C'ôte d'Azur away from Monte Carlo, Saint Tropez and Cannes. When in the vicinity it is definitely worth a visit. You can go there by train or drive. We drove there and parked at the parking lot at the bottom of the village. You then have to walk  up to the old village.

Fragonard

Fragonard Perfume Factory
Fragonard is conveniently located at the bottom of the Èze with a big parking lot. It is a must, to go in an indulge yourself in the world of scents reminding you of Patrick Süskind's Parfum. You can buy soaps and perfumes to take home.

Èze old village

Walking up to the old village you will have to go up some tight steep olds stairs with plaster stone flooring. High heels for the ladies are definitely not recommended. On the way up to the village and the several bars and restaurants, there are many nice little shops. Even spices are sold on the main walking path.

On the way up to the village you walk past some beautiful little gardens which very well kept overlooking the see and the mountains.

 Restaurant Le Troubadour

Street view of the Le Troubadour Restaurant
The Troubadour is an old traditional high end French restaurant focussed on the most important things. It is very cozy, small and romantic. It may happen that you arrive being the only person in the restaurant. You will forget about this as soon as you start your journey through wonderful French cuisine.  I know this restaurant from my father. Ten years after the last time I had been there, the same waiter was there remembering my last name talking about my father, sharing memories.

Best foie gras in the world
The foie gras is a must even for people who do not usually like goose liver this will be interesting. Instead of drinking the famous Chateau d'Yquem with it (for about 200 Euros per small bottle) you can have a good wine from Sauternes which the waiter will recommend.

Wine from Pomerol from Joseph Janoueix
For the main course which was a filet du boeuf, the maitre recommended a nice bottle from Pomerol. We later told him that we were heading to Bordeaux and he recommended we see some chateaux owned by Janoueix. We also had great desert. The restaurant was an incredible experience which I highly recommend.
