Arcachon

Arcachon is about a 1 hour drive from the city of Bordeaux. We went there on the 14th of July during the day as all the châteaux were closed that day and France was celebrating its national holiday.
Ocean view in Arcachon

Boats in Arcachon
Driving to Arcachon from the city of Bordeaux is not that far. The weather was not that good on the day we decided to go there as you can see on the pictures. Parking was slightly difficult as well despite the bad weather. It seems that this place is a retreat for many people living not far away, in Bordeaux or other places. There was a bit of a traffic jam towards the exit of Arcachan. After having wondered around, we went for a coffee and a crêpe. The weather was bad and there was nothing to do. Going for a swim was out of the questions as clouds were mounting towards us. Fortunately we found a nice little restaurant where we decided to have lunch.
Restaurant Le Noroît
The restaurant we found was called Le Noroît which turned out to be more than a pleasant surprise on that gloomy day on the Atlantic Ocean. It was the first time that I had actually been to the Atlantic Ocean.
Tomato Carpaccio with ham

Onion soup
We had Tomato Carpaccio with ham, pine nuts and an interesting dressing and some Onion Soup for starters.
Fish with potato mash

Beef in Gorgonzola sauce with potato gratin
For the main course we had fish with potato mash and beef in gorgonzola sauce with potato gratin. This was very nice and unique in taste.
Crème Brûlée

Panna Cotta
The desert was also quite nice. We had crème brûlée and panna cotta. It was nice for us to have found a nice little restaurant on a day like this one which elevated our mood.
