Don Leone, Zürich

Don Leone main restaurant

Don Leone aperitivo bar restaurant

Don Leone is a real Italian Neapolitan style pizzeria. They make a great pizza. The place is usually quite full in the evening. It is quite casual and the staff is friendly. Having lived in Zürich for a while I can tell you that it is hard to find good restaurants for a decent price. Zürich is one of the most expensive cities in the world, so you could expect that. I went for lunch this time. I ordered pizza.

The second restaurant at that location is opposite the main restaurant and is much nicer to sit at.

Il Principe pizza
I had the Il Principe pizza with tomatoes, cheese, porcine (white mushrooms), cherry tomatoes and buffalo mozzarella. This is one of the best pizzas you can find in Europe, probably better than in most restaurants in Italy. The staff and cooks are from Napoli. Somehow they know something other pizza makers do not and always produce the best pizzas. If you want to eat out in Zürich, this is a great place and one of my personal favorites. The pizza prices ranging from 20-25 francs are ok for Zürich. If you have aperitivo, wine and a digestif and just eat pizza as a party of two you will spend well above 100 francs. In Zürich prices are higher than in most places I have been to. They also offer dishes of the day which all look good and are reasonably priced for this expensive city. This is one of my favorite places which I definitely recommend.
